The All Star Story

Our Beginning

All Star Sports Centre was founded in 2002 by Gary and Paula Lockwood. Paula, a former provincial level gymnast and national level coach and choreographer, has built a career spanning more than 30 years in coaching, mentorship, and leadership within the gymnastics community. Her experience includes coaching with Milton Springers and serving 15 years as Head Coach at Halton Hills Gymnastics before opening All Star Sports Centre.

The Inspiration

Inspired by Nadia Comăneci and the 1976 Olympic Games, Paula’s passion for gymnastics began at a young age. What started with walking on her hands as a young child grew into a lifelong commitment to the sport and to the development of young athletes. Influenced by respected coaches such as Janet Campbell and Eugene Galperin, she developed a philosophy focused on the benefits of gymnastics for all, strong fundamentals, discipline, and long term athlete development.

Our Philosophy

From the beginning, All Star Sports Centre has focused on more than athletic development and competition success. The goal has always been to create an environment where children of all levels grow in confidence and families feel supported.

Core values such as honesty, integrity, work ethic, compassion, passion, resilience, and perseverance are demonstrated each day. The focus remains on developing not only skilled athletes but also confident and disciplined individuals whose growth continues far beyond their journey in the gym.

Our Team

Today, Paula and Gary work alongside a leadership team of six managers and more than fifty dedicated staff members. Together they have built a strong and welcoming gymnastics community supported by athletes, families, and coaches who share the same commitment to excellence and growth. Paula and Gary remain deeply grateful for their faith, their family, their staff, and the parents who entrust them with their children. It is this shared commitment that continues to shape the culture and future of All Star Sports Centre.
